Puzzle Bag

A bag made unique and repairable by the use of discarded leather

Material : discarded leather  + wood + brass
Date : 2024
Context : Louis Vuitton Design Graduates Initiative
. Finalist of the LVDGI

Inspired by shape and materials from the iconic trunks, my design revalues leather waste inspired by the heritage of the maison. The principle is to reuse leather scraps, cut the flowers of the logo, and assemble it with bolts inspired by brass hardware used for trunk making. The waste generated gets a new life, making the bag unique, highly repairable and limited.

My project rethinks maroquinerie with an assemblage of leather, brass and wood. The real strength of this concept lies in its mariage of contrasts: Giving a new life to waste, merging craftsmanship with modernity, and sharing Louis Vuitton’s past to the future generations as their heritage. This bag does not require a single stitch. Making it more than a luxury, an innovative Vuitton Signature.

This bag, if damaged, does not lose value, any piece of the bag can be re-cut with new waste, and replaced quickly to become even more precious.
